To mark the opening weekend of Todd Haynes’ romantic drama Carol, STUDIOCANAL and Picturehouse Cinemas will be offering a special festive service to the film’s opening weekend viewers at London’s Picturehouse Central.
In a special Christmas treat for cinemagoers, which plays on the film’s seasonal setting and the department store in which the characters of Carol (Cate Blanchett) and Therese (Rooney Mara) first meet, those purchasing a cinema ticket to see Carol on the 28th or 29th November will be able to show their ticket inside the Picturehouse Central to have their Christmas shopping festively wrapped while they relax and watch the film.
Set against the glamorous backdrop of 1950s New York, Carol is an achingly beautiful depiction of love against the odds. Based on Patricia Highsmith’s seminal novel, The Price of Salt, adapted by Emmy nominated screenwriter Phyllis Nagy and directed by Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven, I’m Not There, Mildred Pierce), Carol stars Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Kyle Chandler, Jake Lacy and Sarah Paulson, in a powerful drama about a married woman who risks everything when she embarks on a romance with a younger department store worker.
