TMZ have broken the news that legendary musician Prince has been found dead in Minnesota at the age of 57.
Speaking to Variety, his agent Yvette Noel-Schure said:
“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” Noel-Schure said in a statement.
“There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
He had been battling the flu for weeks. His private jet was forced to land a few days ago due to a “medical emergency” but he still performed on stage a day later. No more details are available as yet, but we will bring you everything as we know it.
Prince won an Academy Award, his only nomination, in 1985 for his work on Purple Rain. He also picked up a Golden Globe for his original song The Song of the Heart from Happy Feet, as well as 3 Grammy awards in what has been a glittering career spanning more than four decades.
Social media is erupting with grief as fans, friends and colleagues take to Twitter:
I actually cannot believe Prince has passed! I was a fan from his 1st album all the way! A true musical genius has left us! RIP to a legend

The first time I ever went over my credit card limit was from buying tickets to see Prince. https://t.co/rATHuAGW4w
