For the second predictable week in a row, The Force Awakens remains at the top of the US box office, with a total domestic gross now approaching Avatar, currently standing at over $686 million (to Avatar’s $760m). However, this was a week with five new entries making the top ten, including comedy Daddy’s Home, Oscar contender Joy and Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.
Moby Dick inspired In the Heart of the Sea was this week’s biggest fall, dropping ten places down to 18th. Other casualties include The Good Dinosaur and Creed – both are predicted to score a nomination or two next week.
