As we enter the last quarter of the year, the Oscar contenders are starting to show themselves at the American box office. Though we may have already had many of this year’s technical contenders been and gone, The Martian is still going strong and claims its second week at the top of the chart.
Hotel Transylvania 2 holds second spot, while Pan enters at number three, much to the disappointment of its studio who were expecting better things from their Peter Pan origin story.
New entries include Steve Jobs, which makes its way up to thirteen with only a limited release. Considering the massive expectations of this biopic, don’t be surprised to see it soar to the top in a couple of weeks.
