Vin Diesel Promises Another Furious Trilogy

Star and producer of the Fast & Furious franchise Vin Diesel has guaranteed another trilogy of films to end the series. In his Facebook post on Friday (below) he praised his fans as “the best in the world”, also adding that”Universal have been so trusting of the vision”.

Furious 7 broke many box office records when it debuted earlier in 2015, including at the time the fastest billion dollar grossing movie. Though this was surpassed by Jurassic World just a few months later, it proves the franchise to be a safe bet for a studio that can do no wrong at the box office right now.

However, critics would argue that Paul Walker’s tragic death contributed significantly to the commercial success of a film that far exceeded its predecessors. Though it won’t make a loss, it’s hard to imagine another billion dollar trilogy will follow.

Vin Diesel also confirmed that no directors had been approached to helm the next three, but he would announce details soon. This suggests they certainly have people in mind, but who do you think it will be?

Furious 8 is slated for April 14th 2017.

The fans of the Fast & Furious SAGA are the best fans in the world… Since I became the Producer in 2008, you have been with me every step of the way… literally giving me feedback that proved invaluable. Thank you.

My producing partner Neal would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled. To be clear, NO ONE has been offered to helm Fast 8 yet… let alone seen a script.

Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision… they have been like family… I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga.

I will announce the directors on my next post..
