Yep, you read this headline right. Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is turning her hand to screenwriting alongside new friend and breakout comedy star Amy Schumer.
The two met only a few months ago after Lawrence contacted Schumer to praise her for box office smash Trainwreck. Since then they have been on vacation together, and this homance (yeah we’re coining that) will soon be on the big screen. Little is known about the movie, but they have revealed they will co-star as Sisters.
Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for an Academy Award three times, winning in 2013 for The Silver Linings Playbook. She is the star of blockbuster franchise The Hunger Games, for which the final chapter is in cinemas this November.
Schumer shot to fame with her TV show Inside Amy Schumer, with comedy maestro Judd Apatow taking her under his wing and giving her a silver screen vehicle in Trainwreck, where she starred alongside Bill Hader. The collaboration between these actresses could further cement both as champions of female led movies, but they’re not without competition.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are set to star in Sisters later this year, while the all female Ghostbusters reboot is getting a ton of hype too. This untitled project between Lawrence and Schumer will get a lot of attention, but can they turn it into a box office smash, or will it just be a self-indulgent romp?
