Amblin Entertainment have confirmed that a sequel to Jurassic World is in the works, following the film becoming the third highest grosser of all time.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise their roles as the probably former park employees in the sequel, which is scheduled to hit our screens in 2018. Steven Spielberg will exec produce and Jurassic World director will return to co-write the screenplay, though it has not been confirmed if he will helm again.
Jurassic World has now made a staggering $1.52 billion at the global box office, surpassing The Avengers to claim its place as third biggest film in history. It is still over $600 million behind second place Titanic.
The film is still yet to open in Japan, so its takings are likely to keep rising, if only marginally, for the coming weeks. A sequel was expected, and we will bring you more details as soon as they’re announced.
