Ben Affleck to Direct New Batman Movie

DC and Warner Bros. have announced that the Oscar snubbed Argo director Ben Affleck will not only star as Batman, but is also set to direct a new standalone movie.

Affleck, whose casting as the Dark Knight was met with trepidation last year, is slowly winning over fans as more details of Dawn of Justice are released. He will appear in next year’s blockbuster alongisde Henry Cavill as Superman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. But it is now confirmed that Batman will get his own film, which Affleck is also set to co-write alongside DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.

Johns has authored multiple Batman works, and being one of the chiefs at DC Comics is no stranger to the character.

Following Dawn of Justice, Batman also has an appearance in next year’s Suicide Squad, 2017’s Justice League Part One and 2019’s Justice League Part Two. Maybe a 2018 movie is on the cards, or maybe Warner are playing the long game, with a post Justice League trilogy in the works.

What are your thoughts on Ben Affleck directing a Batman film?
