Thinkg The Fault in Our Stars but even more indie with an angsty teen voiceover providing a constant inner monologue of the protagonist. Maybe the voiceover thing is just the trailer, but Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is certainly not short of indie coming-of-age stereotypes.
A guy who isn’t dying meets a girl who is dying and the two develop a friendship but sort of relationship thing so he makes a film with his Earl to make her feel better but obviously at the end she’s going to die so everyone will end just unhappy as they began but they all had a life-affirming experience in between. Except for the one who dies, that was very much life-ending.
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is in UK cinemas from 9th September 2015.
P.S. We have no idea if we spoiled anything because we’ve only seen the trailer.
